HistoryMarietta Motorsports was started in 1989 by Paul Wright. It quickly became a staple in the world of roadracing for parts, building, tuning bikes and sponsoring racers. With the help of wife Kathy, Paul grew the business to include a parts catalog and a nationally known toll-free number: 1888FASTLAP. Several AMA racers and countless WERA, CCS and other organizations PLACEHOLDER Craig "Huey" Stewart / BBC RacingAll text below = PLACEHOLDER In 2002 Huey and BBC Racing was approached with a proposal from then WERA / now AMA racer Chris "Opie" Caylor. A friendship and a deal were soon struck that allowed Opie to race a 2002 Suzuki SV 650 owned and built by Huey. BBC Racing's reputation expanded at the track and several riders were riding and winning on bikes displaying BBC Racing stickers. Several new, zero-mile bikes were delivered to BBC Racing to be broken in and completely race prepped for customers. Huey also met a young racer named Matt Lynn. Matt was learning to road race after several successful seasons motocrossing. Matt was learning aboard an awesome Suzuki GS 500 built by his father Britt. Huey and the Lynn's quickly became friends and began to plan much bigger things for Matt. BBC Racing's first full season with a fully sponsored rider began early 2003. After an exhaustive search for a rider to represent BBC, Huey approached D-Superbike National novice champion Martin Musil about riding in WERA's National Challenge series. Martin accepted and work quickly began on modifying the SV into a superbike. Matt Lynn continued his relationship with BBC Racing while challenging for the ultra-competative 600 novice National series. Huey also began wrenching and tuning for several other riders throughout this year, most noticeably Ed Bargy instructor and WERA expert Michael Roberson. 2003 went exactly as hoped and planned for except for two very large things: Martin losing portions of fingers from a crash and Texas racer Bradley Champion sweeping the National LWT races. Martin impressed several sponsors and peers by being a consistent podium finisher in his first year as an expert. He was winning Southeast regionals and usually placing second in the Nationals to Champion. Unfortunately that quickly changed at Talladega Grand Prix Raceway when a seemingly uneventful lowside at the end of the front straight changed Martin's life (and body) forever. Martin's hand was caught between the clip on and the pavement. The 100+ mph slide opened seams on Martin's glove and ground two fingers to the bone. Martin missed four regional rounds and three nationals while he was healing. In a reflection of his talent and positive attitude, Martin's first race back from the accident was another regional 1st place! The year ended with Martin and the BBC Racing SV650 winning three regional classes, podiuming another three, and 2nds in the National Challenge and Sportsman National Light Weight Twin classes!
